Name: C'lia Reten
Race: Vulcan
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Position: Chief Ops Officer
Appearance:
C’lia is Vulcan. However, unlike many Vulcans, her appearance isn’t manicured to perfection. Her skin is darker, but tinted pale, almost coppery from the blood in her veins. Her ears are pointed, obviously, and her eyebrows have the typical slant, if more obvious than others. Her hair isn’t silky-fine like most Vulcans, though it is dark brown. Instead, her hair is stiffer and coarser, and, consequently, longer. If she cuts it as short as most Vulcans do, it would stick out all around her head. It actually has body. Even at the length she keeps it at, just shorter than chin length, it tends to stick out away from her head, giving her hair an almost flanged appearance. Her eyes are dark brown, so dark they almost seem black. She is known as pretty, but beautiful wouldn’t be applied to her appearance. She is so tiny it becomes pixielike, but her small fingers are clever in machinery, and her appearance seems almost wild, though she can be very “controlled” and “Vulcan” if she wants to be.
Personality:
Unlike most Vulcans, she was raised by humans on Earth. She never knew who her mother or father was. When she was thirteen, she met the first actual Vulcan she ever knew, and began training with him to discipline her unruly and wild emotions. However, even at that age, her skill in acting let her control her actions, though most of the time her insanely wild
emotions were let lose inside of her, not contained at all. Because she started so late, she never truly suppressed her emotions, though she was able to control them. She is still prone to be far more emotional than most Vulcans. . However, her personality and wit is almost magnetic, no matter how logical and infuriating as she can be. People either like her or hate her – there’s no middle ground. She’s very driven and focused, to a point bordering on obsession. When she’s given a problem, or almost any situation, she will work as hard as she can to solve it. She never gives up… which isn’t always a good thing. You could say she never knows when to stop. She, like most Vulcans, tends to function on a scope of logic. However, being raised by humans let her see that logic can justify almost anything – anything at all. She enjoys gymnastics, and has taken it since she was four through her academy years. She’s kept it up through her various missions to keep fit, and enjoys doing the more complicated forms, especially on the floor. She also enjoys music, composing and singing and playing various instruments. Her music is particularly emotionally intense – it’s the way she vents her emotions. Music and a gymnasium are her most-run holodeck programs.
History:
As before mentioned, she was raised on Earth by a human couple in Phoenix. She’s comfortable in the dry heat, and actually likes being on Vulcan. She didn’t actually get to know another Vulcan until she was thirteen, where another boy a few years older than she began to teach her the emotional-suppressing techniques. Though she was a fast learner, no amount of talent could make up for the fact that she wasn’t trained in it since she was a child. Instead, finding that she had an incredible talent for acting, she used many of the techniques used by actors to “become” different characters and to “feel” they way their characters felt even if they didn’t, and that also worked well enough. She entered Starfleet Academy at age seventeen and graduated at age twenty-one. Lacking natural talent in almost every subject except for survival and general “thinking outside the box” classes, she had to work twice as hard and twice as long as other students at the academy. However, the habits learned then, and the drive she needed to complete the Academy would serve her well in her career. Simply because it was harder for her, and she had to work harder, she had more perseverance than other, more gifted officers.
